Handing Over of Presidency of Arcasia and 1st Office Bearers Meeting

The official handing over of ARCASIA Presidency from Ar. George Kunihiro to Ar. Tan Pei Ing has taken place in Kuala Lumpur on 18th January 2013 and the first meeting with the Office Bearers and the Committee Chairs was also held on the same day. A press conference was also held to announce the new ARCASIA team for year 2013-2014 and also ARCASIA Congress 2014 which will be organised by PAM with the aim of promoting awareness of ARCASIA to the public and also to the members.

The 2nd Office Bearers & Committee Chair Meeting, Manila

The second Office Bearers and Committee Chairs Meeting was held on the 19th April 2013 in Manila, hosted by United Architects of the Philippines (UAP), in conjunction with UAP National Convention. UAP also hosted the Zone B meeting on the same day.

AIA Convention

Ar. Tan Pei Ing, President and Ar. Sathirut, Chairman of Fellowship of ARCASIA attended the American Institute of Architects Convention held in Denver from 19th June - 22nd June 2013 as invited by AIA. Ar. Tan Pei Ing was presented with the Honorary Membership and Presidential Medal by the AIA President, Ar. Mickey Jacob on 18th June 2013 together with a few others Intentional Presidents during the AIA Board Meeting.

At the International Presidents' Forum, several pertinent issues confronting the architectural profession were discussed. It was agreed that the issues are universal and all organisations should collaborate for the betterment of the profession. Emphasis were given to social responsible architecture and building leadership, especially the younger generation.

A very fruitful meeting was also held between ARCASIA and AIA on 22nd June 2013 at the Colorado Convention Center on the following agenda:-

  1. Review the MOU signed between ARCASIA and AIA in 2006 and to identify the areas in which ARCASIA and AIA could cooperate arising out of the MOU and future framework of cooperation
  2. The exchange of information relating to practice of architectural profession and CPD courses
  3. Young Architects Forum
  4. Liberalization and cross boarder practice
  5. Social responsible architecture

The meeting concluded that ARCASIA and AIA will continue with the strategic alliance and collaborative efforts to achieve more tangible outcome and concrete programs.

The 3rd Office Bearers & Committee Chair Meeting, Weihai (16-08-13)

The third Office Bearers and Committee Chairs Meeting was held on the 16th August 2013 in Weihai, China hosted by Architectural Society of China (ASC), in conjunction with their Weihai International Habitat Festival. ASC also hosted the Zone C meeting on the same day.
