The Organizing Committee, on behalf of the host United Architects of the Philippines, welcomed the delegates in Boracay, Philippines. The day was marked with the greetings, registration formalities and exchange of goodwill among delegates from different nations.
Guests arrived at the venue, Hotel Savoy, throughout the day and volunteers from UAP round the clock supported them, receiving from the Caticlan Airport to Island transfer and finally transferring to their own hotels. An elaborate arrangement for welcoming and registering the delegates in the Savoy Hotel was made with a very celebratory mood. Student delegates, young architects, official delegates and others all enjoyed this friendly atmosphere at the end of their long travel from their home countries.
The Office Bearers’ Meeting and the Committee Chairs’ Meeting
September 18, 2023 was marked with the ACA20 formal events. Parallel meetings of the Office Bearers, 5 Committees (ACAE, ACGSA, ACPP, ACSR & ACYA) and the Fellowship were held at different venues during the first hours of the day.
Opening Ceremony, Award Nights and the Welcome dinner
In the evening of September 18, 2023, the Opening Ceremonies and the AAA ACA 20 Award Nights were followed by the sumptuous Welcome Dinner for all the delegates. The official delegates from each countries took part in a Formal Procession bearing their respective national flags, along with the organizers of ACA20 and Office Bearers, Fellowship and Committee Chairs of ARCASIA to the venue, the Boracay Newcoast Convention Center. The Award Ceremony greeted all the finalists and the winning projects of the ARCASIA Thesis of the Year (TOY2023), ARCASIA Student Design Competition Award (SDC 2023) and ARCASIA Awards for Architecture (AAA2023).
ACA20 Exhibition and Congress Proper
On September 19 morning, the ACA20 Exhibition was inaugurated by the ARCASIA President Abu Sayeed M. Ahmed. The winning projects of the Thesis of the Year (TOY), Student Design Competition (SDC) and ARCASIA Awards for Architecture (AAA) were exhibited in the Promenade of Hotel Belmont leading towards the beautiful New Coast Beach of Boracay. The Exhibits also contained the ARCASIA Committee projects and the Research Poster Presentations.
The ACA20 Congress Proper was the main focus of the daylong attractions of Day 02 for all delegates. Parallel Sessions were arranged. The exchange of knowledge and ideas among the 22 nations enriched everyone in the audience. The diversity of topics, lively presentations and discussions marked the Congress event as a very successful one.
The 43rd Council Meeting of ARCASIA
In September 20-21, 2023 the ARCASIA 43rd Council Meeting was held in the Henan Palm Hotel at Main Beach, Boracay. The two-day long event was attended by all the Official Delegates and Observers of different National Institutes. Five of the Past Chairs/ Presidents of ARCASIA also attended the Council. The present OB-CCs along with the ACA20 Convenor, AAA Award Convenor were also among the attendees.
ACA20 Student Jamboree
September 20-21, 2023
Near about 60 students from different Asian Countries participated in this years ACA20 Jamboree. After the initial Prelude to ACA20 Jamboree on September 18, 2023, the main Jamboree Activities and Expeditions took place during September 20-21, 2023.
Pool-side Dinner Party
The evening of September 21, 2023 was an enjoyable one, when the fun-loving delegates gathered together in a Pool-side Dinner arranged by the hosts at Hotel Savoy. It was a very colorful, full of life event which brought the delegates closer irrespective of their cultural, language or age barriers.
ACA20 ARCASIALYMPICS
With the spirit of ARCASIA fellowship this event of Friendship Games was held by the beach of New Coast, Boracay. This event was a completely new addition to the conventional ACA events. Delegates from 19 countries of all ages participated in the event. After the event, a prize distribution ceremony was held in the same venue.
Closing Ceremony and Friendship Night
The evening of September 22, 2023 marked the closure of the almost week-long Congress event ACA20. Participants dressed in their national costumes performed a grand gala event representing their cultural identity and fellowship marked with their diverse backgrounds. The rich cultural landscape of Asia had been once again come into front with the wonderful performances from each of the participating countries.
Finally, the Closing Ceremony came to an end with the handing over of the ARCASIA Flag to the new host of Forum22 Sri Lanka from the Philippines.
