ANNOUNCING THE CHANGE IN PUBLISHER OF ARCHITECTURE ASIA

Following the decision by ARCASIA during the 40th Council Meeting on 6 November, Architectural Society of China (ASC) will take up the publication of Architecture Asia from 2020. Tongji University will act as the editor. With preparation and efforts, we are glad to announce that Architecture Asia will be back soon! In order to let our subscribers know about our next move, we are now presenting you our future plan.

1. Interim plan

2020 will be a transitional year for Architecture Asia to be transferred to a new publisher. During the interim period, we plan to achieve the following objects:

  1. Two publications Two new publications will be issued in 2020:
    • a. Special Issue: Building a Healthy Future, on discussing the tension between Asian architecture and COVID-19 pandemic crisis, plan to be released online in August 2020 *This issue will be open for submission soon.
    • b. Special Issue on ARCASIA Awards for Architectures 2020, plan to be released in November 2020
  2. A new website A brand-new website for Architecture Asia is planned to be launched in August 2020. The new website will be a showcase of our magazine as well as events and activities of ARCASIA and its member institutes.

2. Revamp plan

Architecture Asia is expecting its revamp in early 2021. By revamping, our magazine will keep its original goals of broadcasting the culture and ideas of architecture in Asia. Quarterly publication routine will be succeeded, with special issues to be published occasionally. While continuing to focus on excellent architectural practice in Asia, the revamp also aims at promoting the academic influence of the magazine, by congregating and broadcasting innovative views and ideas on Asian architecture, through which Architecture Asia can become a platform of communication for both architectural academy and practice.

As part of the revamp, the editorial team will be guided by a new editorial board that comprises eminent members from diverse ARCASIA countries and beyond to ensure that the magazine content is balanced and inclusive.

With help from the editorial board, editorial team and publishing groups, revolutionary changes in layout, contents and publication channels are expected. We are grateful for the support and contributions from all of you in the past. And by proposing the future plans, we hope we can still be together to make Architecture Asia better, especially in this difficult time of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Any suggestions or inquiries are welcomed and encouraged, and we are looking forward to hearing from you.
