The ARCASIA Family, with a heavy heart, announces the sudden demise of our past chairman Architect Mubasshar Hussain. His funeral prayers were held at IAB Centre premises on January 02, 2023 in presence of his family members, minister, mayors, architects, many dignitaries and well-wishers.
Architect Mubasshar Hussain was Born on 27 December 1943 in Brahmanbaria and graduated from the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) in 1972.
During the liberation war in 1971, he joined the war for liberating Bangladesh and partook in many guerrilla operations inside Dhaka. To honour his contribution in our liberation war a ceremonial gun salute was given to him in his funeral.
Architect Mubasshar Hussain also served as President of the Commonwealth Association of Architects (CAA) once and as the President of Institute of Architects Bangladesh (IAB) for five terms. A great sports enthusiast and organiser, Mubasshar Hussain also served as a former director of the Bangladesh Cricket Control Board.
Ar. Mubasshar Hussain always fought for the right causes. As a Vice President of Bangladesh Poribesh Andolon (BAPA), which is the most renowned environment activist group in Bangladesh, he led from the forefront to save the environment and wellbeing of communities. He was featured frequently as a guest in television talk shows, where he spoke his mind fearlessly and with rationality.
As per his wish his body has been donated to the Post Graduate Medical University for medical research.
